Opensuse 11.2 milestone 4

Installed OpenSUSE 11.2 milestone 4 (I know, 5 is out already, haven't tried it yet) into my Thinkpad T43. Some remarks (please give me some advice if you've resolved any of the listed problems below):

Installer announced that the grub installation failed somehow. But it seems to boot up just fine, strange.

Kde-desktop is cool, IMHO.

I was not able to install newest ati fglrx driver. Driver installer complains something about kernel version.

I enabled fingerprint reader and ran into problems - resolved by disabling it. I will come back to this and see if I can make it to work.

Most annoying currently: Network manager does not work. It just keep on asking for wpa-password. Seems to be known issue but I did not find any solution for the problem that would have worked for me. I have temporarily just enabled ifup based network connection management but I think that Network manager is the tool that I want to use once it works.

For me the audio with flash player does not work. And, of course, mp3 playback does not work due to missing codecs etc. I just do not want to downgrade to Amarok 1.x after seeing the glory of Amarok 2.x.

  1. Ok. Tried to install Ms5 and failed miserably. Ms5 Livecd (KDE) does not boot at all - ok I got it to single mode but after that the screen is blank (wlan seems to be active etc. so it's not all dead)? At this point it also comes to my mind that maybe I'll go back to 11.1 (and install newest KDE4.x packages). Sheepish but that's what I am...
